A brand new jungle retreat is taking shape in the lush forests near Tegalalang, north of Ubud, near to the world-famous rice terraces.
THE KENDERAN is a remarkable, intimate resort, blending seamlessly into its natural surroundings and boasting only 20 units.
Guests arrive at the top of the resort’s jungle hillside where the restaurant, bar-lounge, gym and pool are situated. From this lofty position, they can gaze out through the canopy of the rainforest, which is alive with birds. The resort then flows down the hillside to unique loft cabins with glass walls, which make guests feel they are totally immersed in the forest, and sleek, modern wood heaters which add another element of cosiness.
Down the hillside from the lofts is the sublime spa where treatments are conducted next to the valley-floor river as it trickles gently past and where guests can plunge into both hot and cold pools.
THE KENDERAN also has its very own on-site sake distillery – the first in Bali – making use of the lush rice paddies all around this area.
